Eggnog

Egg nog is synonymous with Christmas time and countries from around the world have different versions of the beloved holiday drink. What makes this drink so versatile is that it can be mixed with vodka, rum, whiskey, sherry, wine, and any other thing you can think to mix with it. This egg nog recipe has very classic flavors and uses brandy and rum. This homemade egg nog recipe also includes eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla extract to make the actually egg nog base of the drink. Don’t have time for the homemade version? Just pick up some egg nog from your local grocery store and add the brandy, rum, and vanilla flavoring.

Peppermint Schnapps, Bailey’s Irish Cream, and White Godiva Vodka are the three main ingredients in this drink. Your mix the three with half and half, then it’s finished. This was inspired by the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina and it is still sold at the estates restaurant, Deerpark.

Poinsettia Cocktail

This is one of the few refreshingly light cocktails enjoyed on Christmas. It is not creamed base, so there are no worries for the lactose intolerant. The three ingredients to make this drink are vodka, cranberry juice, and Champagne. The best type of Champagne to use for this recipe is a Prosecco or rosé Champagne. To garnish this drink use orange peels or a fresh cherry.

This shot is nothing like a tequila or vodka shot, so it will actually taste good.

Candy Cane Cocktail (via Martha Stewart)

Candy canes are the official candy of Christmas, so it’s only right to have a cocktail named after it. This cocktail may take a little more preparation than most, but your guest will surely be impressed when they taste it. Strawberry vodka, crème de menthe, and cranberry juice are all you will need. Serve this drink in a martini glass and coat the rim with crushed candy cane or a miniature candy cane.
