Will Exercise Help Or Hurt Your Search For Love Online?

The above depicts the days/wk people work out and their online dating profile response rate.

The answer is: Kind of both… It depends on just how much of a fitness fanatic you really are. A recent study by the online dating site AYI (are you interested) shows that singles who list that they workout or exercise moderately but regularly - as in multiple times a week but not every single day - bring in the most interest from perspective online love searchers. However, singles who list that they do workout every single day are actually less popular. According to AYI the logic seems to be that while it’s no surprise people interested in fitness receive the most positive attention because “frequent gym goers are more fit and therefore more physically attractive” (or all shapes and sizes are beautiful, but whatever), people who go beyond being interested and are considered “fanatics” don’t get as many responses because people don’t want to have the pressure of keeping up with them.

Does all of this mean that you should change your online profile? Should you hide the fact that you exercise “8″ days a week in order to find love online? Nope, you’re perfect the way you are and you shouldn’t worry about people who aren’t willing to take a chance with you out of fear of your athletic intensity. Instead search for someone who matches your awesome enthusiasm for health and fitness!

Exercise and an interest in sports and athletics can be fantastic for relationships because in the beginning you can bond over the common interest. As things get more serious, you can be the rock that motivates your partner and encourages them to stay on their A game. Of course, they would do the same for you in return.

The study also made note of some other life aspects that seem to have something to do with how often people exercise. For example, younger people exercise more frequently than older people, single and/or divorced people seem to workout more than married people, and people are more likely to exercise regularly if they make more money.
