5 Teas to Drink Depending On Your Mood
Curling up with a warm cup of tea is always a great thing. Whether it’s to help you get up in the morning, to enjoy mid-day at work, or to help you unwind after a long day, tea is relaxing and super calming. The trick is finding the right kind of tea depending on what mood you’re in at any given moment. It can be difficult figuring out which teas to drink and when to drink them, luckily, you don’t have to figure that out on you’re own. For every emotion you can think of, from anger to anxiety, tiredness to stress, there is definitely a tea to cater to that emotion. Next time you’re feeling a certain way, figure out what tea you should be drinking and make yourself a nice big mug full. Here are some common emotions and the types of teas to drink when you get those feelings:
Mood: Happy - Tea: Hibiscus
Whether you’re feeling a little glum and need a pick me up and some help smiling or you’re in a great mood and want to keep the mood light, hibiscus tea is a perfect go to. This tea is made with Hibiscus, Rosemary, and Cardamom and gives off a sweet aroma. Enjoy this tea hot or iced and have a pleasant afternoon.
Mood: Anxious - Tea: Passionflower
Passionflower tea is great at calming your nerves and lowering stress levels. As seen on Dr. Oz, this soothing tea is great for people who have anxiety or are stressed out. Brew this tea with hot water for a warm, calming cup of afternoon tea. This tea is also great to enjoy before bed or after work.
Mood: Low Energy - Tea: Green
Green tea is one of the best things you can drink when you’re tired. With a decent amount of caffein and tons of antioxidants, a warm cup of green tea will wake you up, help you feel energized, and make your body feel fueled and ready to face the day. Green tea has no calories in it and can also promote boost in mood and metabolism.
Mood: Stressed - Tea: Peppermint
Peppermint tea is a great way to calm down and help relieve stress. Having a cup of peppermint tea before bed promotes a good night’s sleep as well as a soothing aroma proven to help calm nerves and reduce stress. You can add fresh mint leaves to your tea or a wedge of lemon for added flavor. This tea is also great to help you fall asleep.
Mood: Exhausted - Tea: Chamomile
Chamomile tea works wonders when you find yourself without sleep or feeling sleep deprived. Being over-tired can make you sluggish, tired, and groggy, but Chamomile tea is calming and soothing and will relax your right to sleep. I love my chamomile tea with a little bit of almond milk and a touch of honey. I find the milky sweet tea to be perfect before bedtime and it really does the trick when I want something natural to help me drift to bed.

I love Chamomile after a long day - it’s such a great way to unwind. But honestly, my favorite tea by far - which actually isn’t a tea at all, is Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh ride. It’s one of their holiday teas. I stock up around the holidays so I have enough boxes for the entire year! ha ah!
I drink some sort of green tea every morning. I love brewing loose leaf, but am also partial to Yogi tea’s green tea with kombucha flavor. And I love the little fortunes on then tea bags.
Gigi- Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride is my absolute favorite! My mom and I just ordered 6 boxes to last us for the next few months. You absolutely need to try Nutcracker Sweet, it’s a little stronger but almost as delicious!
Ellen- Green Tea is great to drink in the morning, gives your metabolism a great boost. Haven’t tried Yogi…I definitely will.
